Profile and brief history about Natures Gentle Touch

Natures Gentle Touch is a natural hair care brand that provides solution to different hair and scalp problems such as dandruff, hair breakage, slow hair growth, hair loss, receding hairline, weak/damaged hair and dry hair.

It is the only hair care brand that is specially formulated for African Women.

The brand was conceived in 1996 by an Industrial Chemist called Chika Ikenga when he discovered that a large section of women in Africa found it very difficult going to the salon to relax their hair due to the scalp irritations and discomfort they experience whenever they apply relaxer products. He commissioned a research into this problem and the result of the study pointed at the unavailability of hair care products that was specifically designed and suitable for the African woman as the major cause of this problem.

“The unique texture of the African hair combined with the weather conditions make it drier, so it requires a constant balance of moisture and conditioning to stay healthy”.

His research led him to design hair care products that are specially made for Africans living under the African climate. To complement for the constant moisture necessary for the African hair to grow healthy, he harnessed Natures gifts which ancestral Africans used to nourish their hair before the advent of chemicals. His design was a blend of herbal extracts like African Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil and Avocado Oil. These natural ingredients ensured a gentle touch on the hair and scalp, helping women to overcome those problems associated with relaxer applications like scalp irritation, hair breakage and discoloration.

Today Natures Gentle Touch is on a mission to deliver on the beauty needs of our community by providing effective solution to different hair and scalp problems.

The brand is owned by Recare who is a leader in the research and manufacture of products that are specially designed for African skin, hair and personal style .
